  • *IMPORTANT INFO REGARDING THEFT" - For a person to commit the crime of theft, the offender(s) must not have had consent from the owner to take the property. If there was type of agreement that the property would be returned or paid for at a later date/time this crime may not be theft; instead, you may have to take civil action against the person. For motor vehicles: if the person was allowed to take the vehicle but has not returned it then the crime would be UNAUTHORIZED USE OF A MOTOR VEHICLE (this would not apply if parties agreed on some type of payment or payment plan). If some type of payment or payment plan was agreed on and the person failed to complete the payment(s) then civil action on your part would be necessary "repossession".
